Waste not disposed properly
Today's generation of people is mostly ignorant towards the amount of waste that they generate and just throw it by the roadside, pavement or in park. That waste can be a packet of chips, chocolate wrappers, waste paper and other day-to-day things that we use in our life. The lifestyle trend of today's generation is mainly based on a 'use-and-throw' concept. The amount of waste generated today is far more than it was many years ago. There are many essential solutions for this waste generated, but in the end it depends on us whether we ourselves are willing to change our ignorant attitude towards this matter. Whether we are willing to accept ecological solutions for the betterment of our environment is ours for the taking.

Lack of knowledge
In most African countries, some parts of Asia and South America, and some states of India, many people don't have enough knowledge of the rising waste levels and its effects. Most people don't have any idea of what impact certain toxic and poisonous waste can have on their health and eventually their lives. This is because of poverty in these areas, a low economy, lack of motivation, lack of political guidance and political will, lack of new and innovative methods, techniques and systems of education. Campaigns, sessions and meetings are held, but on a small scale; which doesn't help the country as a whole.

Industrialization
Industrialization is a major cause of pollution all around the world. The positive side of it is industrialization is that it has simplified and made the lives of people all over the globe faster and easier. It has brought immense progress to the world and lifestyles of people worldwide have changes rapidly. But, it also has a negative side to it. Sources of industrial wastes are mostly materials that include materials generated by industries- scrap metals, shredded wood, paper, plastics or fabrics. It also includes toxic materials and liquids used in manufacturing, such as used oils, acids and grease. The wastes generated by mines are also a major component of waste generated from mining or excavation is massive. They are the outcomes of overstrained vegetation, lands which include sludge and slurries produced. Other mining wastes include materials used in the mining processes, such as explosives and the debris accumulated due to the explosion. Construction and demolition wastes that result from the erection of new buildings or the renovation of old buildings and apartments are some of the things that get accumulated. Other items might be broken glass, unused cement, wood scrapings, wood, etc.

However, industries are not the sole producers. Our homes, work places, schools, hotels, restaurants, etc., are also major producers of garbage. Many a times, we naively use things that can be hazardous to the environment when disposed or when they are incinerated. We might discard them without proper care. It might be disposed in a certain way in which it shouldn't be and it becomes a problem in the end.
